A Fisherman's Secret

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Did you know that fishermen use Victoria's Secret's Amber Romance fragrance to ward off mosquitoes? And if you did how come you didn't tell me? My sweetheart daughter (the perennial grad student) lives in NOLA and takes a daily run through Audubon Park (where the skeeters are as big as blue jays). Since her discovery and usage of Amber Romance no bites! She uses the lotion but I think any of it will do.
PS It is so hot ,here in Texas, that I think the mosquitoes are experiencing spontaneous combustion. They are not alone. Between the hot flashes and these triple digit temps I myself am a mere puff of smoke.:)

I had heard of the Skin so Soft remedy, but not this one. Stay cool and dry - it is hot as anything even up north, so I can't imagine how hot it is further south!

Oh so with you on this heat...my personal temp is going through the roof...come on break
Oh I have heard the Skin so Soft..like the above also. We also use lavender spray on my son. Haven't seen any mosquitoes around here though.

My Fisherhubby scorned this idea saying HE uses Deet.

Avon's skin so soft does the same thing. Now stay cool and don't blow up on us! ;D

I will have to try this lotion. i have the body cream I think.I can relate to the hot flashes. I know that If I don't drink alot of caffeine it helps me and exercise too. But who wants to exercise in this Texas heat. Thanks for sharing .

We used to live in New Orleans and you are right about those mosquitoes, they are rather large. I will try that tip. Thanks so much!

Thanks for the tip Lisa! When my in-laws lived in south Louisiana, we used to joke and say Mosquitoes were the state bird. I bet it is worse down there these days with the flooding going on?
One of these days when I am in Allen visiting my cousin we are going to have to meet for coffee or iced tea (I don't get up there often...once every few years lol)
Have a great day!

Oh had to come back and comment to your comment...I just laughed out loud and wanted to give you a hug...yes Holy Ghost u-turns...oh my! We feel we are off track and He knows where He is leading....also good to remember when watching our adult children. He is the pilot for them also, not us!
I hope you are making it in this heat...this is a killer. They say as bad as 1980...but I was a new bride that summer and still in awe of being a wife, so I am sure I didn't notice.

Have a great weekend.

My husband and I were just talking about the lack of mosquitoes this year. It is just so hot and very low humidity here. There's always an upside to everything...even 100+ degrees.

Wow, thanks for the tip.

That sounds like a much better solution than using Deets. I'm a desert dweller and even during our monsoon season, which is now, we rarely get mosquitoes. Plenty of other "creepiness," but not the buzzer-biters!

That is a lovely sampler that you are working on. I haven't done any of that kind of yarn work for years, but my interest is peaked! I'm a new follower and think I may become addicted to your blog, just like I am to Pinterest......LOL!

I hear ya Sista! :) Burn up at night, freeze during the day. Poor Hubby does not what to dress for any more, he just keeps blankets all over the house. LOL.
