Spiritual Sundays

singing birds

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV

Commentary: The grief you feel following a tragedy may never completely disappear. However, as you look to the God of all comfort, His Holy Spirit will give you strength for each day, courage to go on, and hope for the future.
Jewell Johnson

Much Thanks to Charlotte and Ginger for hosting Spiritual Sundays.

John 14 is one of my favorite chapers in the Bible, where Jesus talks of the Comforter.

"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but YE KNOW HIM; for he dwelleth WITH you, and shall be IN you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you."

How empty life would be without the Spirit of Christ living within.

This is a good scripture for Memorial Day, as we remember and grieve the loss of our soldiers and loved ones. God is always there to comfort us. The shortest verse in the bible is 'Jesus wept."~John 11:35. May His peace be with us all.

Sarah had my same thought. I like the next part of that Scripture... so that we may comfort those with the same comfort.

That scripture has taught me that any difficult situation I had to face was not in vain because God was and is able to use it to help others. Thanks for reminding me of that in your post today. God bless you.

Excellent commentary on a great Scripture. I have always appreciated the last part of verse 4. The "so that we" part is the reason he comforts us--so that we may comfort others. This is one of my favorite Scriptures.
