Spiritual Sundays

singing birds

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
1 John 4:20

Commentary: Live to be a blessing to others. If you do not love others, you really do not love God. Treat others as though they were Jesus Christ. Determine to be kind to your fellow man. Think of the kindness that you are going to give today.
Bob Buess

Much love and thanks to Charlotte and Ginger for hosting Spiritual Sundays.

Hi Lisa,
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I was having rough day of it
yesterday and was feeling quite sad, but I am much more my old positive self today
and feeling much better. (Much of it due to all my blog friends and their prayers and
positive attitude!) Have a great day!!!

That is a hard saying, "If you love God but hate your brother, you are a liar." Some folks just rub us the wrong way but if we can love them through Christ, then perhaps we will have won a friend. I know several people who simply did not like each other at all, but today they are wonderful and close friends. It always pays to be a blessing to others, even our enemies! Thank you for sharing.

Blessings,
Sandi

I always try to treat others right. But sometimes, I blow it. Like the day I was short with a patient. It was one minute before I was to clock out to go home. It had been a hard day and I wasn't feeling good. They wanted something and I was a little short with them. I was going to apologize the next day (because it bothered me all night). But when I came in to work, they had died. Oh, my heart broke in two. I asked God to forgive me, which I knew He did. Usually, I am such a kind and compassionate person but our sinful nature does get in the way! Thanks for such an excellent post.

UGH! Why did you post this THIS week of alllllllll weeks. There is someone at work that I have just decided is not likable. I have struggled with her personalty (she isn't very nice) And just gave up on her. I know! Not very Christian on my part... I guess I better pray about that! :(

This one is so true, but can often be so hard, which is why it is so important to keep hearing it! Thanks for posting it. :)

Excellent post as always. I find this easier said than done.

This scripture is so true. It is a subject I've read about and heard preached about a lot through the years. As LeAnn said in the comment above, we need to keep hearing it! Thank you for the reminder.

Thank you for this post. Loving others is not always easy, but in being obedient to Jesus, it is necessary and worthwhile.

This is a rough one to learn.

Amen and Amen, Lisa! I know firsthand how some claim to love God, but cause hate and division amongst their brothers and sisters. It's not very nice!

Thanks for writing this very important post!

Thanks for the reminder sister Lisa! It's not easy to love others sometimes, especially the diamonds in the rough. But what's too hard by God's grace? We must truly be firmly rooted first in His love, then loving others will come naturally. Glory to God! God bless you and thank you for always encouraging me, week after week :) Take care sister. Be strong in the Lord's mighty power!

I LOVE your post! It reminds me of a story from Mother Teresa - when she was working in the leper colony, people would ask her how she could bear to treat those who were so tremendously disfigured without exhibiting any revulsion. She would gather them in her arms as if they were her own dear children! She told them that in every stricken persons face she saw the face of Jesus and she knew that by loving and serving them, she was actually serving the Lord!
Love it!!
Thanks for your wonderful reminder
Blessings to you,
Kymber
