Spiritual Sunday

singing birds

Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exalt and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, know that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance. And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation. Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy spirit who has been given to us.
Romans 5:3-5 AMP

Commentary:Patiently enduring the delays and hardships that come our way makes us stronger, more mature believers. It increases the blessings in our lives and prepares us for the next phase of God's plan. When we exercise faith and patience, overcoming challenges and gaining the victory, it pushes us forward into bigger and better things.
Gloria Copeland

Thanks to Charlotte and Ginger for hosting Spiritual Sunday!

Well put. This scripture is a wonderful reminder to be patient and wait on God. Things don't always go the way we want them to and there are many bumps in the road. If everything always went smoothly we would be pretty shallow people. Thank you for the reminder.

that is such a good passage. It is one of those hard to do but true ones!! My friend who is dying of cancer has truly demonstrated how faith grows strong during hardship when God's grace and presence is strong in our midst!

My post is on my Devotional blog--found here:

Wonderful scripture...we are strengthened through adversity. God's grace is sufficient for every situation we have to endure, and it does indeed bring about patience.

God bless,

That's one that I need to work on: patience, which I guess is really trusting that God will handle it.

Great scripture and wonderful quote, Lisa!

If I'm interpreting (the commentary) correctly ... we're being assured and prompted at the same time; that this Life is but a series of Lessons. Not our will, but His be done.
I really enjoyed this!

As some of the other commenters said, sometimes patience does run thin. We do have to trust in the Lord and do things in His time - not ours. Have a wonderful and blessed week.

Hi Lisa
Ah yes, let patience finish her work. It's hard but worth it!
I am having a welcome fall party on Tuesday to celebrate the first day of fall and would love it if you could join in. You can read about it on my blog.
Hugs, Rhondi

My favorite verse is: Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy spirit who has been given to us.

God is always pouring out his love through his spirit how amazing and what a gift to treasure...and hope is what helps me to endure.

Thanks for this post Lisa
