Moms, this is a great meal for after the game!
The recipe:
1-5lb boneless beef brisket, well trimmed
1 cup strong coffee
2 cups catsup
1-10oz can of Coca-Cola
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
3 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp liquid smoke
1/4 tsp tabasco

24 hrs ahead, place brisket (fat side up) in baking dish. Pour coffee over brisket; seal in heavy foil or cover, and bake in a 200 degree oven for 24 hrs.YES. 24 HOURS!
When it has baked 24 hrs, remove from oven; pour off liquid. trim any excess fat still left. Put brisket back in pan. Combine and mix together all remaining ingredients and pour this sauce over brisket. Bake at 200 degrees for 1 more hour.

Hi Lisa
I am so glad you posted about football. I was just thinking about fall last night after I'd finished my post and it hit me that for lots of people fall is synonymous with football. Thanks for joining the party.
hugs, Rhondi

I remember those days well! I had nearly forgotten...and the memories came flooding back. Football games, four cheerleaders and building that blasted homecoming float in our boatyard! It was all so good...and all so hard! :) I remember it well! :) Thanks for the memories!

I will absolutely be making this recipe! My mom has always been free to add strong black coffee to foods that simmer. It's delicious. :)

Hehe! Thanks for sharing your recipe and yes...it's a great meal to serve a large group! Football and Fall just go together!

I gave this recipe to my husband...he was thrilled!!! He is the brisket maker in our house. I am sure it will be amazing.

I am all out of football players this year...baby boy decided to focus on his golf!!! I have mixed feelings but he was so sure he wanted to stop playing. He is an excellent golfer so it was hard to argue with him.

I can't wait to try the brisket!!!

Enjoy!!!
XOXO

Hello Lisa~ The beef brisket looks delish!
I'd like a hot beef sandwich on a big hoagie roll smothered in caramelized onions for lunch too.
Good food is the only way I can sit with hubs and watch football....

Sweet wishes,
Sara

Wow Lisa that looks wonderful. My guess is some clever wife came up with that one to keep her hubby from falling asleep on the couch after the meal. lol
